C&C: Tiberian Sun
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun is the sequel to Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn. The game takes place about 30 years after the end of Tiberian Dawn in the 2020's and once again the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod are at war in a battle for the future of the World. The game introduces new science fiction technologies and a new isometric game engine featuring varying level terrain to give the impression of a 3D environment.
Tiberian Sun departs from the original Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer: Red Alert by portraying each army's commander as a character, rather than referring to the player; Michael Biehn portrays GDI Commander Michael McNeil, reporting to James Earl Jones's General James Solomon, while Frank Zagarino portrays Nod's Commander Anton Slavik, trying to keep the Brotherhood of Nod united after the death of Kane (played by the franchise's director Joseph D. Kucan) at the end of the original Command & Conquer.
The world has suffered since the arrival of Tiberium. The World's former nations have effectively ceased to exist due to the spread of the dangerous Tiberium, and now there are only pockets of areas controlled by GDI, or the resurfaced Brotherhood Of Nod. Plants and animals are either dying or mutating into hideous monstrosities, displacing human civilizations toward the polar regions, where Tiberium grows slowly, or onto GDI's orbital satellite headquarters Philadelphia.
Throughout the course of the GDI campaign Commander McNeil is tasked with many objectives such as securing and defending an alien spacecraft, preventing the Brotherhood from creating advanced airborne units and Tiberium missiles, defending his own ship from Nod forces during an Ion Storm and finally preventing Nod from destroying the orbital Philadelphia station itself. In these missions, McNeil encounters Tratos and Umagon of The Forgotten, who agree to cooperate in assisting with the downfall of Nod.
